The Spiritually Vibrant Home

SVH - Main Large

Think about the most cherished moments of your faith journey. Do they all happen within church walls? Or do some of your deepest spiritual experiences bloom right in your own living room, around your dinner table, or during bedtime stories?

At Trinity, we believe faith isn't just for Sundays. It’s woven into the fabric of our everyday lives, finding its strongest roots right where we live—in our homes. This October, we're launching a new 7-week sermon series called "The Spiritually Vibrant Home: Creating Households of Faith, Prayer, and Purpose."

Inspired by powerful research into how faith truly flourishes, this series is an invitation to see your home—no matter its size or who lives in it—as a primary place for spiritual depth, meaningful conversations, and even global mission. We'll discover how ordinary families become extraordinary places where God is not just present, but actively shaping hearts and lives, every single day.

Join us as we explore what it means to build a home where faith is lived, shared, and passed on.

Baptism Weekend: From Strangers to Family

Date: October 5th
Scripture: Acts 8:26–40
Summary: We kick off the series with a story of radical welcome and transformation—the Ethiopian eunuch’s journey from outsider to beloved child of God through baptism. This weekend, we’ll also connect this story of belonging to our global mission through our partnership with HopeChest Ethiopia.

Reflection Question: Where in your life have you experienced unexpected welcome that transformed your sense of belonging?

Week 1 – God at Home

Date: October 12th
Scripture: Deuteronomy 6:4–9
Summary: Moses’ ancient words remind us that God desires to be central in our daily lives, not just in sacred spaces. Your home isn't a spiritual sideline; it's holy ground where faith takes root. We’ll also have a chance to sign up to sponsor a family in Ethiopia through HopeChest, making a direct household-to-household connection.

Reflection Question: How can you intentionally invite God’s presence into the ordinary rhythms of your home this week?

Week 2 – Messy Prayers

Date: October 19th
Scripture: Luke 11:1–13
Summary: Jesus didn't teach a polished prayer performance; He taught us to pray with realness, persistence, and childlike honesty. Discover how genuine, even "messy" prayers in your home can build profound intimacy with God. This is also our last weekend to sign up for HopeChest sponsorship, as we pray for our brothers and sisters in Hawassa.

Reflection Question: What would it look like for prayer in your home to be less perfect and more real?

Week 3 – Loud Tables

Date: October 26th
Scripture: Acts 2:42–47
Summary: The early church grew not just in sanctuaries, but around tables—sharing meals, stories, and life. We’ll explore how your dinner table can become a vibrant space for meaningful conversation, laughter, and discipleship. This weekend, join us for Ethiopian coffee and conversation in our café!

Reflection Question: How can your table become a more intentional space for connection and faith-filled conversation?

Week 4 – Open Doors

Date: November 2nd
Scripture: Hebrews 13:1–8
Summary: Hospitality isn't about impressing; it's about welcoming. We’ll discover how opening your home, even imperfectly, can be a powerful expression of love and faith that reflects God’s own welcoming heart. This weekend, we’ll pray for our team traveling to Ethiopia to deepen our partnership.

Reflection Question: Who might God be inviting you to welcome into your home this week, even in a small way?

Week 5 – All Ages on Mission

Date: November 9th
Scripture: 1 Timothy 4:12 & Psalm 145:4
Summary: From the youngest child to the wisest elder, every member of your household has a part to play in its spiritual life. This week empowers everyone to live and speak their faith boldly, starting right where they are.

Reflection Question: How can you empower every voice in your home to contribute to its spiritual vibrancy?

Week 6 – Faith in Real Life

Date: November 16th
Scripture: Colossians 3:12–17
Summary: Faith isn't just for Sundays; it's practiced in apologies, thank-yous, dinner blessings, and how we respond to frustration. We’ll explore the "micro-moments" where faith shapes our daily interactions at home. Our Ethiopia team will be back this weekend to share stories from the field!

Reflection Question: What small, everyday moments in your home can become opportunities to live out your faith?

Week 7 – Commissioned at the Kitchen Table

Date: November 23rd
Scripture: Matthew 28:18–20
Summary: Your home is not a retreat from the world, but a launching pad for God's mission. This final week commissions us to see our kitchen tables as powerful pulpits, equipping us to impact the world from our own address. This is our "Reveal Weekend" for HopeChest sponsors, celebrating new connections and a truly global mission!

Reflection Question: How can your home become a "spiritual embassy," sending out love and faith into your community and beyond?

About Trinity

ONE CHURCH - MANY LOCATIONS

Trinity is a multi-site church: one church with many locations, serving the greater Chicago area. At Trinity, everything we do revolves around Worship, Connect, and Serve. We believe these three paths are key to helping us all grow as disciples of Jesus Christ.

All of our worship sites focus on the same Big Idea each week and provide similar creative elements. The difference between the sites and worship settings is the style.
