Advent

November 26, 2017 - December 31, 2017

Advent comes from the Latin word “adventus” which means “arrival.” We await the celebration of Jesus’ arrival into our world as a baby over 2000 years ago, and we await his second coming when he will arrive in glory to rescue and restore all of creation. As we wait, we focus on four traditional words of Advent: Watch, Prepare, Rejoice, and Behold. We watch for Jesus to come again, using Advent as a chance to return our focus to where it should be all year long – on Jesus and his kingdom. We prepare for him to come again, doing all we can to live NOW as citizens of that kingdom. We rejoice in the midst of our sorrows and struggles, knowing that Jesus is the answer to our struggles and the source of our joy. And finally, having seen the Lord and experienced his salvation, we call others to behold the amazing Good News!
