Eating And Exercise - TKW
Teacher: Series: Bod4God Topic: Health Scripture: Ephesians 2:1–10, Daniel 1:4–5, 1 Corinthians 9:24–26, 1 Corinthians 10:23–26, Romans 8:1–4
We understand what God has done for us, and why in response we want to take care of our bodies. God saved us when we were still dead in our sins, while we still lived in the passions of our flesh. We have been saved by Jesus so we can walk in good works he prepared for us. We have looked at our hearts and the necessary attitude adjustments but do we have the energy required for that walk? Now it’s time to get practical and develop a plan for eating and exercise. Remember the Bible says there is a connection between our spiritual lives and our physical lives. Jesus said, “the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Sometimes we feel that way. We want to have our devotional time, but we are too tired. We want to do more things for God, but we don’t have the energy. Or we don’t feel good about ourselves, or we’ve got addictions. Paul tells us in 1 Thessalonians 4:4, “Each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable.” It takes time to control your body, it takes work, and we all know the basics. Eat more of the right things and exercise more. Proverbs 23:2 says it well, “and put a knife to your throat, if you are given to appetite.” Remember Paul writes that our bodies are to be living sacrifices in Romans 12:1
