Daniel’s act of obedience sent a clear message that God was his master, not Nebuchadnezzar, nor the people of Babylon. God was asking him to remain pure and not be influenced by the surrounding culture, but to be an influencer of the surrounding culture. Daniel picked one thing that allowed him to show where his true identity was found. It was a simple everyday choice that ended up having lasting significance.
