Bearing One Another’s Burdens

What does it look like to actually live life together as followers of Jesus?

In Galatians 5:13–6:5, Paul connects the freedom of the gospel with a life of humble, burden-bearing love. Christian freedom is not about turning inward toward ourselves. The Spirit turns us outward toward one another.

Drawing from Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s Life Together, this message follows three movements:

• The flesh turns us inward.
• The Spirit turns us outward.
• The Word turns us upward.

Bearing one another’s burdens means more than trying to fix someone’s problems. It means listening, making room, staying present, serving with humility, and walking patiently with people through weakness and suffering. And ultimately, it means bringing one another back to the Word of God, trusting Jesus to do what only Jesus can do.

As Trinity enters a season of transition, this message points to a deeper truth: the church belongs to Jesus Christ. He has carried our greatest burden at the cross, and because Christ has borne us, we are free to bear one another.
